Patrick O’Brian Books

Patrick O’Brian, CBE (1914-2000) was a very popular British novelist, best known for the Aubrey/Maturin series of Napoleonic Era naval adventure novels. The series is considered unique in that the 20 volumes arguably consist of a single, extremely long book, each new novel taking up precisely where the previous one left off. They are also unique in the depth of research, the use of accurate period language, and the blatantly obvious parallels to the life of Lord Thomas Cochrane (though there are obviously quite a few differences as well).
