Edward L. Beach Books

Edward Latimer Beach, Jr., is perhaps best know for his World War II/Cold War submarine trilogy Run Silent, Run Deep, Dust on the Sea, and Cold is the Sea. He made several war patrols in Trigger and Tirante before finishing World War II in command of USS Piper. His non-fiction works include Submarine, and Around the World Submerged. Two of the books on this page, An Annapolis First Classman and From Annapolis to Scapa Flow, were written by his father, Edward L. Beach, Sr. (the latter edited by the younger Beach). Beach Hall at Annapolis, the home of the United States Naval Institute, is named jointly after both Captain Beaches.
